The Hamper Emporium has a number of special Melbourne gift hampers containing fine beers. One of these Melbourne gift hampers is the Beers of Australia Hamper, which contains some of the finest beers Australia has to offer, as well as a selection of beer nibbles. To find out more about each of the beers in these Melbourne gift hampers, please read the information below.
Monteith’s Golden Lager
Monteith’s Golden Lager is a beer created by Monteith’s Brewing Company, a brewery that prides itself on traditional and heritage. The Hamper Emporium admired the quality of Monteith’s beers, which is why we added several to our range of Melbourne gift hampers.
Thanks to almost 150 years of brewing experience, Monteith’s Brewing Company has made it to the top of the New Zealand craft beer market.
One of their most outstanding beers can be found in their classic range – the Monteith’s Golden Lager. Monteith’s Golden Lager is a malty lager with a hoppy character and the smoothness of cashews.
The beer can be served with most light flavoured foods, but also with some hard yellow cheese. Monteith’s brewery offers more than just classic beers, because they also have a series of ciders, a brewer’s series and limited releases.
If you are interested in more beers from this brewery, be sure to have a look at our Melbourne gift hampers in the beer hampers range.
Little Creatures Pale Ale
Little Creatures brewery is without a doubt the brewery with the most original name. The company was founded by a group of friends, who all had a history in the beer industry. The friends wanted to create a hoppy American Pale Ale with a distinctive aroma and outstanding flavour.
To create their beers, the group of friends established the Little Creatures Pale Ale brewery in a big shed, which was formerly a crocodile farm. The renovation began in 1999, but the actual brewery did not open until late 2000.
During this process, the friends also decided to solely focus on pale ale and researched numerous pale ale releases from the United States.
Now, Little Creatures brewery has released numerous pale ales and even seasonal beers that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
The Little Creatures Pale Ale is a beer that falls under the “throughout the year” range. The ale has a strong taste of citrus and stone fruits, but has been balanced out with specialty malts and sufficient bitterness.
James Squire ‘The Chancer’ Golden Ale
When it comes to craft beers, most beer lovers have heard of James Squire. The brewery was named after James Squire, who is believed to have been Australia’s first brewer of craft beers.
Each beer that has been released by the James Squire beer has a story that refers back to the Australian creator of craft beers.
James Squire ‘The Chancer’ Golden Ale is a great thirst quencher and has a tropical fruit aroma you will not often find with a craft beer. It also features a restrained bitterness and a dry finish that ensures the beer can be enjoyed in every season.
The James Squire Golden Ale was launched in 2004 and radiates some of the things the real James Squire was known for, more specifically risk and roguish charm. Even though it is an English-styled age and not an American ale, the high drinkability of this ale makes it a suitable choice for everyone.
Balmain Pale Ale
Balmain Pale Ale is one of the most popular beers from the Balmain Brewing Company. The beer was first released in 2010 and was meant to celebrate the tradition of the pub culture. It is an English-styled ale that has a rich malt character. The beer is also made with a total of five malts; this includes two base malts and three speciality malts.
The Balmain Brewing Company experimented and obtained an amazing pale ale with a characteristic gold-copper colour. This is also the beer that pleases most people with a sweet tooth, considering the beer is also characterised by minor hints of sweet caramel.
Balmain has not been around as long as most Australian brewing companies who focus on the creation of craft beers, considering the Balmain Brewing Company was founded in 2010. Still, in the short 6 years it has been around, the company became one of Sydney’s iconic and local beer companies, showing a great love for the tradition of craft beer brewing.
Thanks to the success the company has enjoyed over the years, the Balmain Brewing Company has also established a restaurant and a microbrewery on the peninsula. Beer lovers are able to visit the brewery and get familiar with the Balmain beers while enjoying outstanding food pairings.
Mildura Brewery Mallee Bull Beer
The Mildura Brewery is located in the old Astor Theatre, a popular cinema back in the day. The original building was used by the Paramount Picture Theatre in 1925 and was sold many times until the Mildura Brewery was founded in 2004. Before the building became a brewery, it functioned as a theatre, cinema and a car park, so it has plenty of history. That history is still visible in the brewery today, because the owners have maintained several design elements from the original building.
At the Mildura Brewery, there are two ranges of beers: the main range and the seasonal beers range. The Mildura Brewery Mallee Bull Beer is part of the main range, considering it is a beer with a complex malt character that can be consumed throughout the year.
Mildura Brewery Mallee Bull Beer is made with British malts and balanced with English Challenger hops. The beer provides an outstanding combination of nuttiness, softness and juiciness. The high temperature fermentation has also added fruit flavours and a slight tartness, which complement the sweet malt character of this strong ale perfectly. Be warned though, the Mallee Bull Beer is the strongest beer in the Mildura Brewery range, so beer lovers need to be up for a challenge.
